International Day of Happiness

March 20 - International Day of Happiness.

Established by the General Assembly of the United Nations on June 28, 2012.

Conscious that the pursuit of happiness is a fundamental human goal...

What is happiness and why do we need a special day to celebrate it?  According to happinessinternational.org happiness is when your life fulfills your needs.  And the road to happiness is

  • Change your needs to fit your life
  • Change your life to fit your needs

Simple words, but quite a challenge.

Hi Marleen,

Thanks so much for mentioning and linking back to us!

Let me suggest a way to make the challenge manageable: Small moves.

While it's essential to have a long-term vision so you make choices that align with that vision, those long-term visions are too remote to see how to achieve them.

Instead, add a 5 year goal, then work back into shorter time periods until you get to something small and easy enough that you can do it today.

I call this the 3D Happiness Planning Process: Dream, Desire, and Design.

My question to you and your readers is, what will you do today that you'll be glad you did 20 years from now?

The time is going to pass anyhow. Why not pass it happily and well?
